This series of work poses how the Seven Deadly Sins can be used to reflect on current hypocrisies within modern humanity. What I intend to do with this work is use the cardinal sins as a familiar concept with viewers, and pair them with historical and life examples to deliver a broader message. Further, to look beyond each piece individually but compare their messages in relation to one another on the wall that they rest on. History paintings and Academic art have always had a heavy influence on my work. Since I find them riddled with underlying messages and subjectivity, I aim to mirror these aspects stylistically within my work to emphasize the underlying messages of hypocrisy within humanity. I chose to represent these ideas by using oil paint on canvas, as it ties what traditionally and historically has been done when representing biblical ideas in art and use modern references to insert them into the 21st century. In creating this series, I hope to bring forth a conversation between how the Seven Deadly Sins interact within our lives and how they interact with each other.
